Swat Medical Complex's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a community of skilled, innovative, collaborative and caring critical care clinicians. As a tertiary referral center, the ICU takes care of complex critically ill and injured patients. We have an active nursing leadership group and clinical nurse specialist who provide mentorship and coaching to new and experienced staff. We have an incredibly diverse staff that reflects the many cultures of or patient population. Our supportive team environment is the essential key to our success in providing excellent care to our patients and their families. The ICU team cares for critically ill patients with complex medical disorders as well as post-operative general surgical, solid organ transplant and orthopedic patients. Nurses in this unit develop expertise in caring for patients with acute kidney injury, end-stage and acute liver failure, severe sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and those with liver, pancreas or small bowel transplantation. The critical care team includes nurses, physicians, respiratory care practitioners, a social worker, a nutritionist, and a pharmacist all with expertise in meeting the needs of critically ill patients and their families. The nursing staff is active in improving the care of critically ill patients through innovative projects and clinical research.
